The CCRCD is committed to increasing the biodiversity of the native plants along our waterways in order to promote pollinator habitat, ecosystem health and water quality. In October 2026, we plan to work with the Calaveras Band of Mi-Wuk Indians to plant our first demonstration garden, highlighting native riparian plants, along with plants important to Tribal traditions.

Some of the plants to be planted are:

• Yarrow (Achillae millefolium)
• Narrowleaf milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis)
• Redbud (Cercis occidentalis)
• Elderberry (Sambucus caerulea)
• California goldenrod (Solidago veluntina ssp)

Plants are sourced from Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation and garden made possible by the Calaveras Band of Mi-Wuk.
